Welcome to the Spanish Consortium for Ageing Normative Data website!

The Spanish Consortium for Ageing Normative Data (SCAND) is an initiative developed with the aim of sharing normative data on the Spanish middle-aged and old adult population.

The objectives of the consortium are to establish normative data from a group of cognitive tests commonly used, and to study longitudinally the predictive value of these tests with respect to the Subjective Cognitive Decline (SCD), Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) or dementia conversion of older adults.

Neuropsychology is a scientific field that aims to describe, diagnose and treat cognitive, behavioral and emotional changes that appear as a result of a possible functional or structural impairment of the Central Nervous System. Within the field of healthy and pathological ageing Neuropsychology not only allows to characterize in an accurate way the cognitive state of an individual, but also helps to guide the diagnostic decision, to determine which subjects present a higher risk of developing a future neurodegenerative disorder and propose the appropriate therapeutic intervention.

Considering Gerontology as the study of the biological, psychological, and social aspects of aging, Psychogerontology refers to as the specific study of the psychological process of aging. Psychogerontists, therefore, develop skills in assessment, diagnosis and intervention in different residential, outpatient or homecare contexts and services for older adults.
